A Fashion Lovers Paradise: The Anna Wintour Costume Center at The Met

Hi, loves!

I am in the process of moving all of Fashionable Cents over to my new blog The Angela Diaries, but I figure while I'm working on that I couldn't possibly deprive my loyal Fashionable Cents-ers a glimpse of a few of my latest posts. Here's one from earlier in the year; my trip to the MET had me swooning for all things FASHION... read on if you please...

The picture below says it all, at least regarding my expression as we explored the"Masterworks; Unpacking Fashion"exhibit at The Met.... I was sort of floating on air. Let's be honest, that happened the moment I stepped into NYC, but the steps of The Met were a heaven all on their own, and this was one of my personal favorite exhibits to explore...

XL

VIKTOR & ROLF

L
This Viktor and Rolf Ballgown is the first dress you see when you walk into the exhibit. Of course, it's striking and bold, catching more than your eye straight away. Go ahead and put me in this dress any day of the week.

VERSACE

L
I loved seeing the historical and vintage pieces up close and personal that this exhibit showcased, but most of all I loved seeing iconic dresses like this Versace Clothespin dress... famously worn by Elizabeth Hurley on the arm of Hugh Grant. Sigh, the nineties were a special time weren't they?

DIOR

L
Oh, Dior

I died for this jacket, if one could call it something as simple as a jacket. The detail and the dramatic peplum shape alone were enough to make me swoon....

CHANEL

L
I love how timeless and classy Chanel is. This dress is quintessential Chanel and I loved every bit of it.  The detailed cuffs and belting...and well everything... it's Chanel!

Fashion, will always be a love affair of mine, but words... words hold the dearest place in my heart. So of course, I had to snap this quote by Anna Wintour herself.

L

I'll leave you with this favorite of mine by Alexander McQueen, famously worn by one of my favorite fashion icon characters, Effie in the Hunger Games.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

L
To me, this is what fashion is all about. Seeing the up close and personal detail and design behind every piece, the pure creativity and talent that goes into making a dress of this caliber... it truly is it's own Art, and I will forever be an admirer.

Of course, like everyone who visits The MET, I didn't see half of it! So, I can't wait to go back and explore more. What's your favorite look from the Costume Center?
